Welcome to Not A Statistic Youth!
At Not A Statistic Youth (NASYouth), we are dedicated to the well-being and personal development of young people. We understand that many youth face significant challenges and have experienced trauma or come from disadvantaged backgrounds. That's why we are here, striving to make a positive impact in their lives.
We believe in taking a holistic approach to address the needs of young individuals. Our organisation is committed to nurturing their well-being, empowering them with essential life skills, and helping them build a foundation for a brighter future. We firmly believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive, irrespective of their circumstances.
Why focus on well-being? Because we understand that a young person's mental, emotional, and physical well-being lays the groundwork for a fulfilling life. By fostering a supportive environment and providing access to the necessary resources, we aim to empower youth to overcome adversity and realise their true potential.
We are driven by data and research. Shocking statistics show that a significant percentage of young people face adversities that can hinder their development. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) reports that 50% of mental health conditions develop by age 14 and 75% develop by age 24. But at NASYouth, we are determined to change those numbers. Our evidence-based programmes and initiatives are designed to make a lasting impact on the lives of these young individuals.
We prioritise equipping youth with core life skills (soft skills included) that are vital for their future success. Through our tailored workshops, bespoke mentoring programmes, and various extracurricular activities, we empower young people with skills such as critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and resilience. These skills will not only help them navigate challenges but also enable them to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Join us in our mission to make a difference in the lives of young people who are often overlooked or labelled as statistics. Together, we can create a brighter future, one where every young person has the opportunity to grow, succeed, and rewrite their own narrative.
Founder's Story
Not A Statistic Youth was founded based on the personal journey of our founder, Seyi Jenyo. Seyi's upbringing was marked by adversity, trauma, and loss at a young age. However, she refused to let her background define her future, demonstrating that one's past should not hinder their potential.
After obtaining her BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy and Oncology from the University of Hertfordshire, UK, Seyi embarked on a career in Therapeutic Radiography where she worked both in the NHS and private sector. While working as a Radiotherapist, she simultaneously managed numerous projects for UK charities and organisations. Later, she ventured into freelancing with startup companies, catering to various corporate clients. Seyi's versatility also extends to her talents as an author and speaker.
Driven by a deep passion to inspire young individuals, Seyi openly shares her experiences with authenticity and relatability. For the past decade, she has actively mentored young people, witnessing the transformative power of investing in the next generation. Seyi always envisioned becoming the person she needed during her own teenage years, making it her mission to fulfil that role for others. Drawing from her personal struggles, including childhood loss, peer pressure, and the quest for identity, Seyi aims to instil hope in our world, one young person at a time. Through television appearances, speaking engagements, and podcasts, Seyi's story leaves audiences inspired, motivated, and empowered.
At NASYouth, we utilise personal anecdotes and narratives to inspire our young audience. Our goal is to emphasise that with perseverance and resilience in the face of life's challenges, a successful future remains within reach.
